Established in 1998, Bellvale Wine is a family-owned business run by principal winemaker and viticulturalist, John Ellis. Situated in the lush Tarwin River valley of South Gippsland, the area is acknowledged as one of Australia’s best Pinot Noir producing regions. This is reflected in Bellvale’s numerous international and national awards over the last decade. 

The name, Bellvale, is derived from the Ellis family’s rich agricultural heritage, which may be traced back to a farm in Nieuw Amsterdam (the New York are•, in the late 1600s. The Bellvale label features two majestic oak trees that grace the centre of its vineyard. 

John Ellis spent many years on Long Island, in south-east New York, before emigrating to Australia in the 1980s. His abiding passion for fine wine and viticulture stem from extensive free time spent in Europe during a 25-year career as a commercial pilot. To maintain his interest, John followed several agricultural paths during that time, including planting Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to supply the first vineyard in the Hamptons in the 1970s. Over time came many trips to Burgundy to hone his knowledge of traditional French winemaking methods and traditional viticulture.

Clyde Park Vineyard was established in 1979 when the varieties of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir were planted on the property.  Further plantings since have increased the vineyard to 35 acres, expanding the original Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and adding Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris. In all we have 7 clones of Pinot Noir, 6 clones of Chardonnay, 2 clones of Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc and a sole clone of Pinot Gris. The Jongebloed family have owned Clyde Park since 1996 and have concentrated on developing premium quality cool climate wines, which today are sold across Australia and recently have begun to export.  They are proud to be a James Halliday 5 star rated vineyard for a number of years, and their wines have won numerous awards.

Lindsay McCall’s winemaking legacy began in 1984 with the purchase of a 10 acre derelict orchard. Subsequently, access to a further 45 acres of vineyards has increased the estate’s source of quality fruit. Having received numerous awards over the years, Lindsay’s hard work culminated in 2007 with Paringa Estate being awarded James Halliday’s ‘Winery of the Year’.

Pizzini are Italian at heart, we are inspired by growing, making, eating, drinking and friendship. We planted our vines more than 30 years ago and continue to grow the finest Italian varietal wines right here in Victoria’s King Valley. Our wine ranges span from Sparkling Italians, to everyday drinking and handcrafted, special and rare wines. Each range telling a differnt story of family, site and craft.

Ten Minutes By Tractor’s original vineyards were planted about 25 years ago; what is special about our region is its diversity and this is exemplified by the Wallis, Judd, McCutcheon and Coolart Vineyards, vineyards separated by aspect and altitude, by slope and soil. It is our aspiration as wine producers to best portray our unique vineyards that governs our wine making philosophy. This alone demands that we follow a more non-interventionist, traditional approach to our winemaking, by allowing our indigenous yeasts to do our fermentations and using traditional Burgundian methods to enhance the expression of our terroir or character of the ‘place’ from which the wine is derived. These techniques assist us in producing the wines of great elegance, complexity and length for which is region is renowned. Located in the Yarra Valley, 65 kilometres north east of Melbourne, the thousand candles farm is an historic, sprawling property that stretches over 1100 acres on the southern slopes of the Warramate Ranges. It comprises of vineyards, cattle pastures, and native bush. The ambition at thousand candles has always been to try and capture the detail of the unique vineyard site in the wines they produce. They take the approach that the vineyard comes first and foremost. By looking after the soils using biological farming methods, along with minimal intervention in the winery they firmly believe the wines always show more depth, balance and complexity.

Taking the helm of the winemaking from Bill Downie in 2016 was Stuart Proud. Originally, the viticulturist, he has graduated into the winemaking role as well. Not a classically trained winemaker, he has learned alot along the 20 plus year journey in the wine industry working alongside a range of winemakers plus also operating his own small label. This approach really adds weight to the saying that ‘the best wines are made in the vineyard’. He aims to create a range of wines that showcase vineyard and fruit purity rather than trying to leave a thumbprint as the winemaker.

Villa Fresco lends itself to the idea of a long lunch at an al fresco table full of best friends and the most delicious Italian fare imaginable. Fresh, vibrant and made with a nod to the traditional vino da tavola from the most famous Italian regions. Consisting of two tiers embracing both blended styles and single varietals, these are wines without fuss or formality, yet immense on deliciousness, enjoyment and value!

Charlotte Dalton Wines – made by me to create joy within myself and those drinking it. All wines are made with natural yeasts and minimal additions. My winery is on the Fleuirieu Peninsula at Port Elliot Beach where I live with my Partner Ben, our toddler daughter Ada Pixie, our baby son Sammy and our Labrador Keith.

I have been making wine for 20 years all over the world, in some incredible places with some incredible mentors. I am a New Zealander and I started my wine life at Craggy Range where I earned my wings working under Doug Wisor while studying for my Bachelor of Wine Science. I remained at Craggy for 5 years. I then spent 6 months in Bordeaux at Chateau Giscours in 2005, the most incredible vintage, all the ducks were in a row and the 2005 Bordeaux wines are incredible as a result. After this I headed to California and learned that grapes are everything working for a David Abreu who grows for Bryant Family, Screaming Eagle, Staglin and few other of the cult wineries. I also worked in his cave winery making the 2nd vintage of his own wines. I found myself in Australia 12 years ago, I came here as winemaker for a winery in the Adelaide Hills – The Lane Vineyard. I left that job to start an analysis business as the Adelaide Hills was in desperate need of contract analysis services and ran that business for 3 years. I missed winemaking so returned to it as a consultant to several South Australian brands until 2015, when I launched Charlotte Dalton. Adelaide Hills is a magical place. It is home. 

Elderslie is the collaboration of two minds, both chasing a common goal to make remarkable wines from remarkable sites.  Driven by creativity and curiosity, Adam Wadewitz and Nicole Roberts aim to tread lightly making delicious wines that reflect the uniques sites and seasons of the viticulturally diverse Adelaide Hills.

Howard Vineyard wines are Estate Grown from our family owned vineyard in the Adelaide Hills, one of Australia’s most exciting regions. Planted in 1998 Howard Vineyard has two sites. 

A Red and Rose producing at ”Clover Farm” vineyard in Mt Barker (400m) and “Beautiful Valley” vineyard in Charleston (500m) where some of the best aromatic white wines, sparkling and Pinot Noir are grown in the Adelaide hills.

Our central approach of sustainable viticulture (including intensive hand pruning, shoot thinning, bunch thinning, low yields, hand picking and undervine cultivation) enable us to achieve great varietal definition. Our winemaking approach is to pick at optimal ripeness for lean flavours to showcase the quality and true expression of our vineyards. Our wines are light to medium body with vibrant flavours and great natural acidity.

The Kay Brothers winery, recognised as the oldest family winery in the region still in founding family hands, has been synonymous with McLaren Vale for 125 years. The Kay family arrived on 2nd February 1891 and today the 3rd and 4th generation family continue the winemaking traditions in the heritage listed stone cellars.  There is a meticulously kept diary for every year that the Kay Family has been at Amery – visit their website to read some of the excerpts.

The overarching philosophies behind our range of wines is to work with grape varieties we find intriguing, keep the winemaking ‘fingerprint’ to a minimum and produce wines that are fresh, full of texture and above all else, drinkable. We are inspired by growers who have selected the best climate-appropriate variety for their specific site and choose to farm using organic or biodynamic practices.

Paxton are leaders in both organic and biodynamic viticulture and winemaking. Fruit for all wines are sourced solely from estate vineyards in McLaren Vale, South Australia. In 2000 the family released their first wine under the Paxton label: the 1998 Paxton Shiraz.

Many decades ago, a steam train meandered its way south from Adelaide towards McLaren Vale. Along the way, passengers passed through Yetto, a tiny railway station marked by only a small, galvanized shed and a bench, the stop used mostly by people living and working in the surrounding vineyards. A range of generously flavoured and very affordable Barossa Valley wines courtesy of a partnership between two good mates – winemaker Kym Teusner and grape grower Warwick Murray.

All wines are sourced from old vines grown in Vine Vale sand from our family’s 40 acre vineyard. The grapes are handpicked and vinified on site using traditional methods (gentle de-stemming, small batch open fermentation, basket pressing and pyramid stacked barrel ageing) with no fining or filtration. Rusden aims to make wines that harness the power of Barossa fruit, yet highlight the floral aromatics and spice characters so evident in wines produced from grapes grown in sandy soil.

Smokin Barrels is a range of generously flavoured single vineyard wines from a site nestled in the Angaston foothills of the Barossa Valley.  The vineyard is was planted throughout the 1990s and purchased by viticulturalist, Warwick Murray and Winemaker, Kym Teusner in 2008 to supply this project.  

Coarse sand over deep red clay being the perfect soil for these rich and distinct wines.  Sustainable management practices are at the forefront of running this vineyard with self seeding native grasses populating the mid rows and runoff water captured from the roofs and carparks of a nearby industrial precinct used for irrigation.  Honest and affordable, these are wines that are certain to impress at the price.

To anyone that has met Kym Teusner, it would come as no surprise to discover that Teusner Wines was conceived over a few beers at the local pub. Scratching together a bit of cash, the fruit from an old Barossa vineyard found a new home and Teusner Wines came to life. Teusner’s philosophy comes down to two simple words. Righteous Pleasure. Let the righteous flavours found in the old Barossa vineyards take center stage in the wines and bring pleasure to those that put their hand in their pocket to buy them. It’s a simple approach, but one that has gained Teusner an army of fans and had the commentators and critics singing the praises of his wines as modern day benchmarks for the Barossa Valley.

Atlas Wines was established in 2007 by Adam Barton and Amy Lane. Their vision, simply to produce great wines from exceptional people and places. Like its name denotes, Atlas is a collection of these relationships and creations. Unbound, Atlas Wines charts its own course. In searching out these vineyards, Adam has come to know intimately the complexity and diversity of the Clare Valley, and how the unique characteristics of different sites – geology, soil, groundwater, climate and weather, aspect, slope and more – produce fruit with unique qualities. It’s these qualities that he has sought to express through the wines he has made.

Torzi Matthews is a food and winemaking partnership between Domenic Torzi and Tracy Matthews. Both share a passion and firm conviction of appreciating the value of heritage in the crafting of their wines and olive produce. In 1996 they stumbled across a small, frost-pocketed hollow in the beautiful Mt McKenzie, Eden Valley and fell in love with the area for its remoteness and its diverse thin soils. The rationale was quite simple: this land would produce low yields of fruit which in turn would translate into flavoursome European style wines – the style of wines needed to match their Mediterranean food.

Domenic Torzi is fifth generation Calabrian / Abruzzese stock so Vigna Cantina is a celebration of his heritage and affection for European varietals. Mainly Italian grape varieties are crafted from single vineyard sites that show the best varietal expressions. The wines are truly wonderful in their aromatics and fresh lively fruit flavours that are the pinnacle of Mediterranean food pairing.

Owned by the Towner family, Flametree Wines is a proud team, committed to producing consistent, distinctive Margaret River wines while building on long term, loyal brand advocates through memorable wine experiences.  Established in 2007, Flametree has quickly become renowned for its award-winning Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon wines; the two hero varietals of Margaret River.
